Bernard Dubois
Bernard Dubois is a Belgian architect whose style is rigorous and approach is analytical. Drawing references in different periods, he creates coherence and brings together what the history of architecture opposes. Bernard Dubois studied photography before he graduated as an architect from La Cambre in 2009. In 2014, shortly after founding his architecture firm, Dubois represented Belgium at the Venice Biennale: his research on a hundred Belgian interiors formed the basis of a new architectural grammar. He continues to carry out an active reflection on subjects that are close to his heart, notably as co-director of the AA Visiting School Brussels since 2016. This gives rise to new perspectives and levels of reading which are expressed in the variety of his projects : six showrooms and boutiques for the fashion designer Nicolas Andreas Taralis and, in parallel, the creation of furniture for the Balice Hertling gallery in Paris and Patricia Low gallery in Gstaad. Today, a well-supplied order book opens up new avenues for Bernard Dubois : residential interior design projects for art collectors ; stores for the ethical and sustainable brand Icicle ; restaurants for PNY, a co-signed furniture collection for the Brussels based gallery Maniera - amongst others. Whatever the nature of the project, the vocation of Bernard Dubois’ architecture is to be informed, contextual and fundamentally cultural.
